THE BRIEF
Spaces were tasked with transforming the former Butcher’s Tap into The Chalk Freehouse, marking the first solo project of acclaimed chef Tom de Keyser.
The challenge was to reimagine the space with a modern yet inviting atmosphere, blending tradition with a new, vibrant identity under Tom Kerridge Group’s signature style.

What we delivered
Bespoke upholstery seating
We crafted deep-buttoned, fluted leather fixed seating alongside elegant bent wood armchairs and custom antique tub chairs, all designed to provide comfort and character unique to the venue.
Hand-selected marble tops
The refreshed space for The Chalk Freehouse was brightened and refined with sleek, hand-procured marble tabletops. These additions created a clean, sophisticated look that perfectly balanced heritage and modernity.
Custom privacy screens
Tailored privacy screens were designed and installed to complete the seating areas, adding intimacy and soft separation while working with the room’s proportions. Each screen was sized to its seating run, gently zoning dining and bar areas so guests get space and service flows cleanly.
THE EXPERIENCE
The Chalk Freehouse now offers a distinct identity that feels both fresh and familiar.
While embracing the pub-bistro tradition, every detail was carefully tailored to the space, creating a unique atmosphere that honours its history while stepping confidently into a new journey.
