Consortia Group | Case Study

THE BRIEF

We collaborated with Consortia Group on the refurbishment of three distinct areas within Newcastle Train Station: the Colleague Hub, Platform 12, and the Station Management Centre.

Each space, with its own use, needed to be completed with a unified look and feel that still respected the character and function of each location. The focus was on practicality, comfort, and a design that worked with the flow of a busy station.

What we delivered

Upholstered booth seating

Across the Colleague Hub and Station Management Centre, we built upholstered booth seating tailored to each room. Every unit was measured and made to maximise the space without crowding it. The booths created clear, comfortable areas for breaks and day-to-day use.

Versatile acoustic panelling

All three locations for Consortia Group were fitted with hand-crafted acoustic panels, designed to work in different ways. In one area, they formed a curved wall feature; in another, they lined a staircase; elsewhere, they were integrated into storage units. The panels brought a premium feel but stayed practical in adapting to each room’s layout.

A cohesive feel for individual locations

Although each space served a different function, every finish was chosen to create a consistent identity, polished and contemporary. The result for Consortia Group was three reworked rooms with a shared atmosphere: comfortable, dependable, and built for their teams.

THE EXPERIENCE

Newcastle Station never really slows down, so these rooms needed a reset that made sense for the people who use them.

The changes weren’t about adding more, but about making each space feel clearer and easier to be in. Decisions from material choices to layout were collaboratively made with comfort and everyday use in mind.
